Professor Mark Gillett became medical advisor to the Premier League in November 2018, bringing with him 10 years of experience as a team physician and performance director in the league. He began his medical career in 1992 and completed advanced specialist training in Emergency Medicine in the West Midlands in 2003. Professor Gillett holds an MSc in Sports Medicine from the University of Nottingham and is a founding fellow of the Faculty of Sports and Exercise Medicine UK.
Between 2003 and 2008, Professor Gillett served as a sports physician for the English Institute of Sport. He then took on the position of first team doctor at Chelsea FC in 2008, moved to West Bromwich Albion FC as director of performance in 2010, and later joined Nottingham Forest in 2018.
