Mental Health & Wellbeing

Here at Regener8 Healthcare we believe that looking after your mental health, is just as important as taking care of your physical health.

We are passionate about providing holistic healthcare that considers every part of your wellbeing, which is why we are excited to introduce our counselling service.

Meet Our Therapist

Hello, my name is Sophie.

I am a qualified and experienced mental health therapist, who graduated with a First Class BA Honours Degree, in Integrative Counselling.

I am a registered member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (MBACP) and work to the highest standard of their ethical framework.

How I Work

  • As an Integrative counsellor, I am qualified and skilled in interweaving interventions and drawing from different theories to best support each client’s goals and therapeutic progress.

  • My main objective is to provide a safe, non-judgemental space, that encourages authenticity; aiding the exploration of a client’s thoughts, feelings, behaviours and patterns, feeling comfortable to speak freely on any topic of their choice. It is my belief that the act of speaking thoughts and feelings aloud, in a nurturing environment, is very powerful for our mental well-being. It supports how we organise, process and accept thoughts, feelings, behaviours and life experiences, which allows the client to know themselves on a deeper level; and as their self-awareness grows, this can then support the client to navigate life more purposefully, congruently and in line with their true wants and needs.

  • Some client’s may have a clear and focused ‘reason’ for accessing counselling which encourages deep and targeted therapy, to best suit that client’s desired outcome. However, I’ve come to recognise that some people are deterred from counselling due to feeling like they do not have a ‘reason’ that fits into a particular category or feel they must wait until a point of struggling before accessing support.

I feel very passionately about promoting mental health support and making my practice inviting and inclusive. Everyone can benefit from not being alone with thoughts and feelings that feel heavy and sometimes all the reason you need to access counselling, is for an unbiased ear to listen, to problems that feel big or small, secure in the knowledge that you are in a safe, non-judgemental environment and what you have to say matters.

  • Counselling modalities I am qualified in and predominantly incorporate into my practice, is a mix of Person-Centred Counselling approach (PCT), Transactional Analysis (TA), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) interventions & underpin the theoretical grounding of my practice, from the Psychodynamic school of thought.

  • Simply explained, I believe that the client should choose the direction of conversation for each session, as this is their time and I encourage a pace of therapy that they are comfortable with; so I am led by them. However, I do believe that it is my role as the therapist to interject with interventions and gently help the client make connections and revelations through guided discussion, when appropriate, by utilising my psychological knowledge and skills, to promote the best outcome for the client.

What to Expect

Once you have enquired about beginning your therapeutic journey, we will arrange a ‘First Session’ which can be face-to-face, online or via telephone. This initial session is an opportunity to meet, chat and decide if you would like to work together. A therapeutic contract will be discussed simply outlining how I work, privacy & cancellation policies and legislations that I am bound by. During this session you can ask any questions you may have about counselling or outline any goals or areas of interest, if they are known to you at this time.

Each session is 50 minutes in duration, this allows you the knowledge of how to pace your time, should you have something particular, that you wanted to discuss within a session; which would allow us to safely ‘close down’ the topic until your next appointment. There is no limitation on the number of sessions you can have, as I offer both long and short-term therapy. Sessions will be booked in advance around mutual availability. Prices and deposits discussed upon enquiry and preferred method of counselling (in person/remote).

Frequently Asked Questions
How do I know if I need counselling?

Anyone is welcome to access support, work on themselves or seek to understand their self on a deeper level. Sometimes speaking confidentially to someone who is not a friend or family member can help quiet the noise inside your mind and help you to gain more clarity for your life, wants and needs.

How long will I need counselling for?

I offer open-ended therapy which means there is no time-frame limitations on the course length of therapy. Sessions usually occur once weekly or fortnightly but can be accessed sporadically if that suits the clients lifestyle. People may access therapy for weeks, months or longer.

What would happen in a therapy session?

Counselling is a talking therapy where we sit and discuss whatever topics the client wishes to talk about.

Everyone’s therapy journey is unique to them, sometimes there may be interventions/tasks to complete if they would be beneficial to the client’s goals.
